Workshops

The Workshops use a varied range of techniques, including presentation and group interaction, to encourage exploration within a safe environment.  Groups will never be made up of more than eight participants.  The learning experience is, for the most part, designed to make you think, certainly to see certain things in a different way and is always light and supportive.  Laughter is encouraged.  We want you to feel relaxed so that any contributions you make will be offered spontaneously. .

The programme itself is balanced.  Over the five days, there will be four workshops and an option of two gentle walks and two a little longer.  Wednesday is free time, with an optional trip out or a choice to spend individual quiet time at either venue. Throughout the week Susan will be available for individual consultation by arrangement.

Walking plays an integral part in both holidays and will be varied throughout the week.  When we walk with others in a natural setting, our footsteps and our breathing find their own rhythm.  Our senses are filled; we glimpse a hawk rising, witness an enchanting view or hear the liquid notes of a blackbird.  In our mind a space opens into which creative thoughts and imaginative ideas begin to flow.  We become part of the rhythm and harmony and discover it in ourselves.

The southern Charente is ideal walking country; an unspoilt, sunny and friendly corner of south-west France.  Walk under spacious skies, through a rolling landscape of vines, corn and sunflowers. Experience the luminous quality of the light and the amazing sunsets.

Workshop: Creative Change

Whether you have a deep desire to develop an artistic talent or simply to know and understand yourself more fully, the key is to tap into your creativity.  As we begin to embrace our creativity, a rich and under-valued resource, we come closer to answering the question:

“Who am I really and what do I truly want from life?

Re-discover the REAL YOU in our workshop sessions. Learn how to break through self-doubt, identify your strengths and talents and value who you are.
Meet like-minded people in small groups, where a combination of laughter and discerning self-exploration leave you with that ZING of optimism that may be lacking.
Our aim is that you leave feeling energised, positive and more than a little self-aware.

The workshop programme will begin with where you are in your lives right now and where the balance might be lacking.  We will explore your beliefs and values and what might be getting in the way of making any change. You will learn how to move from any negative view to one of positive, realistic optimism. You will also learn how to begin to trust your intuition, as you would a trusted friend.

Workshop: Creative Writing

Aimed at beginners, late starters and closet scribblers, to explore your creative potential as part of a regenerating holiday.
You may be a budding poet, novelist or non-fiction writer.  You may be burning to write your own story, for yourself or for your children.  You may simply wish to feed your creative imagination and think more creatively.
With emphasis on constructive feedback, you will learn how to trust your intuition and tap into your creativity.

The workshop programme will take, as a starting point, your own story, as well as your observations whilst here in France, so that your first attempts at writing will be based on what you know.  Your imagination will then come into play to build on what you have started.  Alongside this we will look at the key elements of poetry and prose and what is essential in each form.  We will also look at the role our intuition plays in the creative process and how it can be developed.
